Sensociencia: Science Within Everyone’s Reach in Almería and Beyond

Sensociencia, the research group committed to bringing science closer to every student, had a May packed with impactful activities. We’ve brought transformative scientific experiences to a multitude of students, from an innovative mini science fair in Almería to school visits in Jumilla and Guadalajara.

Mini Science Fair with La Salle Almería at UAL

The University of Almería (UAL) became the setting for a vibrant mini science fair, a collaboration between Sensociencia and La Salle Almería school. La Salle students had the unique opportunity to design and present their own experiments, demonstrating that science is much more than theory: it’s observation, experimentation, and inquiry.

It was inspiring to witness the passion and ingenuity of the La Salle students. Moments like this reinforce our belief that all students, regardless of their background, have the potential to do and feel science as something that truly belongs to them. This initiative not only allowed young people to experience a university environment but also provided them with a platform to share their ideas and spark scientific curiosity in their peers.

CAL Routes: Lively Science in Jumilla and Guadalajara

This month, Sensociencia also expanded its national reach thanks to our participation in the Ministry’s Scientific, Artistic, and Literary Routes (CAL). Our team welcomed visits from schools in Jumilla (Murcia) and Guadalajara, who experienced interactive workshops and dynamic sessions. These activities invited students to explore the world of science in a practical and participatory way.

Through these routes, we had the opportunity to discuss with students the importance of science in their daily lives and debunk myths, fostering a more inclusive and approachable perception of STEAM disciplines. These experiences are crucial for demonstrating that scientific thinking is an accessible and valuable tool for everyone.
