Science You Can Feel: Sensociencia Inspires at the Seville Science Fair
This May, Sensociencia has taken part in the Seville Science Fair, one of the most important educational events in southern Spain. Our stand has become a vibrant space, full of thought-provoking questions, sensory materials, and hands-on opportunities where children, young people, and teachers are connecting with science through their own lived experiences.
Throughout the fair, students engaged in interactive activities designed to explore changes of state in matter through real-life, contextualized situations. One of the most surprising experiments invited participants to discover why salt is spread on roads in winter. Using ice, salt, and thermometers, students formulated hypotheses, observed the drop in temperature, and linked the phenomenon to its everyday use.

Beyond providing closed answers, our activities encourage students to observe, predict, test, and communicate scientifically what they see. The goal is clear: for each student to feel truly capable of doing science—actively, independently, and meaningfully.
We also used this space to engage in conversations with teachers from across Andalusia, sharing practical strategies for bringing this inclusive and participatory approach into classrooms, especially in settings with high cultural and linguistic diversity.
This May is all about listening, being surprised, and building science together with those who matter most: the students.
