‘Science & City’ let’s go!
As part of the second edition of the Participatory Budget of the city of Colombes, the Science & City project began this summer!
Led by the French organisations TRACES and Les Petits Débrouillards, the project aims to engage teachers, students, and residents of the Grèves Petit-Colombes neighborhood in a collective exploration of their urban environment through the lens of science.
The goal: to strengthen the connection between local communities and their surroundings by promoting participatory scientific practices rooted in everyday life.
Key activities of the project include:
- –Free workshops for residents of the neighborhood, taking place on August 23 and 30, 2025,
- -Scientific storytelling workshops with two classes from Simone Veil Elementary School, combining personal narratives and academic knowledge,
- -Audio capsules produced from stories collected from students and local residents,
- -Creation of science mediation tools, including an audio-guided tour and a neighborhood map, integrating these stories,
- -A public event in February 2026 to unveil the tour and map, and celebrate the community’s involvement.
By bridging science, urban space, and citizen engagement, Science & City aims to foster a sense of belonging and empower residents as co-creators of knowledge about their own neighborhood.
