New edition of ‘Rayon Science’ opens its doors in Paris
Starting on 20 November 2025, TRACES has launched a new edition of its temporary science centre, ‘Rayon Science’, located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. Designed as an open and accessible space, this initiative aims to bring science closer to everyday life and make it engaging for everyone in the local community.
Rayon Science will offer a wide range of free, fun and creative activities for all ages, welcoming children, teenagers, adults and families alike. The centre encourages visitors to actively take part in science through hands-on experiences, workshops and discussions. On the agenda: having fun, building, tinkering, learning and debating about science in an inclusive and stimulating environment.

More than just a science venue, Rayon Science is conceived as a place for exchange and discovery, where curiosity is encouraged and scientific topics are explored through creativity and collaboration. By fostering dialogue between science and society, the project supports a deeper understanding of scientific challenges and innovations.
Rayon Science’s objectives are:
1) To bring science education to unusual and local locations.
2) To offer young people, sometimes unfamiliar with science, an innovative outreach program and contact with the world of research.
3) To promote diversity and the economic and cultural vitality of a neighborhood through educational initiatives.

Background
Rayon Science had a successful initial trial in the summer of 2018 on rue de Ménilmontant (Paris 20th arrondissement), then moved to a new space for five months in the Danube-Solidarité-Marseillaise neighborhood (Paris 19th arrondissement) between October 2019 and February 2020. We returned to this neighborhood for the entire month of July 2020 to reconnect with residents after the lockdown and continue offering in-person science activities while respecting social distancing guidelines.
Rayon Science then occupied a space in the 19th arrondissement between November 2021 and January 2022, and opened a new edition in December 2022 in a space shared with several associations on Rue Alphonse Karr (Paris 19th). The 6th edition took place on the same street from November 2023 to June 2024, and since November 2024, Rayon Science has returned to a space in the Danube-Solidarité-Marseillaise neighborhood for its 7th edition, on Rue de la Prévoyance.
This project is supported and funded by the City of Paris, Paris Habitat, the Île-de-France Region, the 19th Arrondissement Neighborhood Management Agency, and the 19th Arrondissement Town Hall. It also receives support from the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs of Île-de-France – Ministry of Culture. For this 7th edition, the Heinrich and Nelly Feuerhahn Foundation is also providing support.
