A museum dedicated to preserve cultural, technological and creative values of video game culture opens in France
Conceived as a space for discovery, transmission and sharing, The Video Game Museum aims to help visitors understand the history of video games from their origins to the present day. The institution welcomes a wide audience, including enthusiasts, families, newcomers and the simply curious, positioning itself as an inclusive cultural venue rather than a niche space.
The museum, inaugurated on 13 December 2025, marks the culmination of more than 25 years of dedication to preserving, understanding and sharing the heritage of video games. Situated at 10 Avenue Paul Doumer in Arcueil, this unique institution invites visitors of all ages—from avid gamers and families to the simply curious—to explore the evolution of video games from their origins to the present day.
The museum is guided by five founding values that define its role and impact. Heritage lies at the core of its work, with a strong commitment to preserving games, consoles and technologies that have shaped the medium. Transmission drives its educational mission, ensuring that video game culture is shared across generations. Innovation highlights the museum’s focus on digital creation and creative experimentation, while accessibility ensures that video game history is open and understandable to all audiences. Finally, passion fuels a vibrant community of professionals, volunteers and supporters dedicated to the project.
Unlike a national museum, The Video Game Museum is supported by the city of Arcueil, along with public and private partners and a large network of volunteers. This collaborative model reinforces its identity as a living, community-driven institution rooted in cultural engagement.
By combining preservation, education and creativity, The Video Game Museum positions video games as a key part of contemporary cultural heritage and invites the public to explore, understand and celebrate their lasting impact on society.
Visitors are invited to discover the museum and take part in a shared history of digital culture.
