Gender & Migration in STE(A)M: Barriers and Opportunities

This informal lunchtime session will explore the intersection of gender and migration for the approaches and measures seeking to achieve equality in STE(A)M.

Hosted by ReadLab Brussels, the webinar will voice the view of researchers on this topic, presenting the specific obstacles faced by students and researchers within this intersection, as well as initiatives and measures that can support students and scientists on their careers.

Programme:

– Dr. phil. Dipl.-Ing. Afsar Sattari: Board Member of the European Platform of Women Scientists (EPWS) and Women in Science and Engineering NuT e.V. (Germany), and Director of Goal-Electronic Print Media & Training Services.

Miruna Bivol: Doctoral Researcher at the GenTIC research group at UOC and visiting fellow researcher at the Minds Hub Research Group at the University of Helsinki. Her research focuses on adolescence, STEM career choices, mentoring, well-being, gender, and migration.

– Maria Towns: Doctoral Researcher and member of the Minds Hub Research Group at the University of Helsinki. Researching on the sense of belonging, social relationships, academic achievement, migration, and acculturation.

This webinar will focus on envidence-based research and best practices, as well as it will include a Q&A session.
